Redirections for categories really don't work. What are you trying to accomplish? redirecting to a category works fine, but redirecting an entire category achieves nothing — Game widow (talk) 17:00, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

I have no idea what you are referring to. --NibKing (talk) 09:11, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
You had redirected the Category:Polearms to Category:Weapons. I was simply pointing out that that particular redirection achieved nothing — Game widow (talk) 13:12, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
The page history that I see tells a different story. --NibKing (talk) 13:28, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
apparently i misread it, twice ... shrug — Game widow (talk) 14:38, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

PAGENAME

In templates, it's just better to use , then it doesn't mess up dpl lista and the like. — Game widow (talk) 03:46, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

Ok. I wasn't aware that this causes database errors. I think I undid all instances of this. --NibKing (talk) 20:18, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
It's not really an error, it's just that auto-generated lists interpret that strictly, so a list is created from a bunch of infoboxes (for exameple), and the name field in some of those uses the unsubstituted form, then it will appear as the name of the page where the list is, rather than showing the actual name of the item. Make sense ? — Game widow (talk) 20:46, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

I just now noticed this message. I'll check that out. Thanks. --NibKing (talk) 11:08, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

"Jews"

While i realized it is the term used in the game, it is offensive, and that is why the page was named "Jewish people" — Game widow (talk) 19:08, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

With all due respect, a lot of things in this game are offensive. So where should the line be drawn? --NibKing (talk) 19:23, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
It's a tough call and it's the only case where it's been done on this wiki. "Jews" was already searchable and the title on the landing page was different but no confusing. — Game widow (talk) 19:34, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Unused / optional template parameters

Why are you adding unused / optional parameters when the values are empty? This is pointless and provides no added value to the page — Game widow (talk) 15:42, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

It's quite common for the average wiki user to create pages by copying the format of a similar page, rather than hunting down the source template it uses. I've found this to be invaluable in previous wikis i've been a part of. --NibKing (talk) 20:57, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
OK, it is unnecessary but it doesn't hurt anything either, and if you feel it will help new contributors, fine — Game widow (talk) 21:40, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
Thank you, ma'am. --NibKing (talk) 22:32, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

I'm not sure how much longer I'll be here. My best guess would be another 2-3 weeks tops, to be honest.--NibKing (talk) 00:08, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

In-game icons

If there are any icons you can't find, just provide a screenshot for reference and i'll upload them. i am quite sure i have them all, it's just that some need to be cobbled together from component parts. — Game widow (talk) 14:46, 30 March 2018 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. --NibKing (talk) 16:06, 30 March 2018 (UTC)

Shoes

Are you sure those are one and the same item? Where did you find this information ? — Game widow (talk) 17:44, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

Verified it in my storage trunk ("Shoes" are no longer an item), and merchants do not sell them anymore (e.g. Rattay cobbler, Trader (Rattay cobbler), Sasau cobbler, Trader (Sasau cobbler), etc). --NibKing (talk) 20:32, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
OK then, thanks — Game widow (talk) 22:46, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

Trying to link to tabs doesn't work

You are wasting your time making links like Bouche shield. The do not open the page with that tab active, it's always the v.1 tab — Game widow (talk) 19:49, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

If you were a new visitor to the site, and you saw Bouche shield, but there are 3 versions, would you maybe wonder if it was version #1, version #2, or version #3? What if a link points to ItemX, but there are 2 versions of it and it should actually point to the 2nd version, would you just assume that it's supposed to be the 1st version, because that's what was displayed when the page opened? --NibKing (talk) 23:08, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

And yes, trying to link to tabs does work. Go to Master Ota's page and click on all 3 of the Bouche shield links. --NibKing (talk) 23:12, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
I think that new visitors are not guaranteed to look at either the url or the link itself, only the displayed text. So i understand trying to differentiate, but i think it would be more effective to simply put (v.2) in plain text after the link — Game widow (talk) 11:59, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
I didn't realize that is what you were getting at. None of the other item variants are displayed on those pages, so I thought we were hiding that type of text. --NibKing (talk) 19:36, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
It doesn't have to be hidden necessarily, nor does it have to be explicit. All i was saying was that the extra specificity in the links was not doing what it seemed like you wanted it to do — Game widow (talk) 20:32, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
One other possible way to deal with it would be to have just one link and then in plain text after it, something like "3 variations" or "3 different styles" — Game widow (talk) 21:23, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
Is this what you mean? It's all the variant and version text displayed for respective items:
Variants and versions.jpg
--NibKing (talk) 21:50, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
Actually no, what i mean is this: instead of having something like
have
Game widow (talk) 22:16, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
That wouldn't necessarily work, because any given vendor doesn't always sell every version of an item. For example, in the screenshot above, Master Ota only sells 2 of the 5 versions of Riveted decorated chausses. If the page displays
how will someone looking at the page know which versions he sells? --NibKing (talk) 22:23, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
You can be as specific as you like. The point is that having a link that doesn't actually go to what you expect is also not helpful. Any explanatory text after is helpful, and being as specific as necessary, but as brief as possible is the best option — Game widow (talk) 23:16, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
All the links work fine for me. I'm not seeing an issue here.--NibKing (talk) 23:47, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
The links all go to the page, but it used to be the case that the tab that is "on top" was always v1. I guess that has changed — Game widow (talk) 14:15, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

White feathers

Did you finally find some, or are you just adding locations on spec ? — Game widow (talk) 19:36, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

I finally found them in the big tree in Samopesh. Took about 25+ nests until I found it. --NibKing (talk) 20:05, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
I also found a dead moonshiner (presumably) west of Sasau (marked as an accident at the bottom of a hill on the riverbank, below a cave) who had some of all the different kinds of feathers as inventory. — Game widow (talk) 15:02, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

NPC inventories

..and i'm just curious, are you killing NPCs to see what their inventory is? or is there some other method? — Game widow (talk) 15:02, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

I use the non-lethal stealth knockout.--NibKing (talk) 21:56, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

Map of Sasau

Overwriting the monastery map is not the way to go. I'm reverting that change, renaming the monastery map, then i'll upload the larger map of the town which i have — Game widow (talk) 17:27, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

The "monastery map", as you put it, is displayed on the Sasau Monastery page, like it should be. I never touched that. I uploaded the Sasau map to the Sasau page, which incorrectly displayed the Sasau Monastery map (it was, or is if you reverted the upload, the exact same map that's shown on the Sasau Monastery page). How is that not the way to go?--NibKing (talk) 17:42, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
Let me guess...that monastery map was used for both pages. I didn't realize that if that's the case. --NibKing (talk) 17:51, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
